Musical instrument trainingViolin and piano, individual lessonsOur pedagogy takes into account age as well as personal needs, and thus lessons are individually adapted to each particular child. Playing in violin/piano ensembleViolin ensemblePlaying music together develops the capacity to hear others simultaneously as one is producing one’s own sound. The pupils can play together with others from the very beginning. Chamber ensembleThe chamber ensemble is a form more appropriate for older children. The most common structure is a string and/or piano trio, or a quartet. Music theory in groupsChildren study the basics of reading and understanding music in playful and easily accessible ways. Courses are tailored according to the age, skill level, and developmental stage of the children. We attribute great value to active learning, and the pupils produce part of their own study material themselves. Children's orchestraTeachingPresently about 30 children meet every Saturday in smaller groups to practice music reading and ensemble playing. There are also intensive courses, usually in connection with the last part of the weekly course, which are always completed by a concert in one of the concert halls in Stockholm. The intense practice in these courses, leaves no time for theory teaching. PedagogyChildren learn best when they play. Therefore we build our lessons in a way so that creative games, including singing, movement and own creativity, alternates with tasks demanding higher attention and concentration. Our pedagogy has its roots in several internationally recognised music schools. It covers aspects such as different stages of children’s development and individual needs and skill levels. We organise our classes so that children have the best conditions for practicing at their own pace. RepertoireThe repertoire is tailor-made and arranged by our teachers according to the pupils’ level. We take great care in choosing each particular piece, taking into account the children’s wishes and taste, as well as art quality and diversity. Participation of parentsThe participation of parents is of great importance for the interest and success of the children. Therefore we invite all parents who so wish to take part in our classes, and in concert activities. It all adds up to making The Silver Bow the unique orchestra it is! |
